Hornets Nest Council Trail is a portion of the Carolina Thread Trail. The trailhead [N35 53 11.7 W80 49 21.5] is located North of Statesville on Hwy 21, on the left directly after crossing the South Yadkin River Bridge. Parking Lot is gravel, but is very well done, courtesy of donors to the Carolina Thread Trail, which this club is an organizational donor.

Description
Trail is 2.17 miles long, ending at a break in barb-wire fencing where a relatively large boulder gives a nice elevated view of the South Yadkin River. The hike runs parallel to the South Yadkin River, and crosses a number of small feeder streams on the North side. The trail is bordered by Camp Oak Springs to the north, and the River to the south.
Camp Oak Springs is a 700 acre[1] property owned by the Hornets Nest Council, a 1935 charter of the Girl Scouts USA.
